ICS Member Jerry Walker
at station B-1 in Ballman Cave, Versailles State Park, Ripley County. In
December 2000, there had been three trips yielding about 1,915 feet. After
crawling in the stream for about 800 feet, there is one small spot where you can
stand up. The remainder of the cave is crawling, mostly on your stomach. There's
not enough ceiling to get on your hands and knees. The water ranges from three
to 18-inches deep. It's your typical eastern karst--low and wet.

The Indiana
Cave
Survey
At Work
Here is a photo gallery
featuring Indiana Cave Survey members and volunteers at work in the field.
Sometimes the work isn't too exciting, but there is satisfaction in knowing that
what we do is adding to our knowledge of the cave and karst areas of Indiana and
that our contributions will ultimately help other explorers, researchers, and
conservationist in the future.
Members are encouraged to
submit their photos. We'll continue to update this area as new photos are
received.
