ICS Meeting Minutes
Indiana Cave Survey September 14, 2009 Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 PM.
President Dave Everton thanked member Ray Sheldon for hosting the meeting.
Members in attendance: D. Everton(President), Keith Dunlap(Treasurer), Bruce Trotter(Board Member), Ray Sheldon(Secretary), Bill Baus(Board Member), Glen Lemasters, Dave Black, Rob Jarboe(Webmaster) and Guest: Jessica Adams
Keith presented the Treasures report $2631.99 in the account. Three new members have joined since the last meeting.
Dave E. asked for approval of the online minutes from the last meeting. Bruce moved to approve and Rob threw on the second. The minutes were approved as written.
Dave E. opened the floor for County Director reports: Dave E. has been uploading references. Bruce has been working on Lawrence County updating 130 report forms, adding 40 map references, uploading entrance photos and worked on 30 – 35 HNF inventory resource forms. Bruce has also uploaded 37 Orange County HNF entrance photos and noted Will Ott has been submitting Spring data. Ray helped Bruce with some of the Lawrence County updating. Dave Black is having some internet problems and will have more time in upcoming months. Rob has been working on Jefferson County cleanup and working on the Jefferson Proving Grounds corrections.
Dave E. asked for an Archivist report; Bruce passed out an activity log to the County Directors showing progress since the last meeting. There were several questions concerning the validity of the numbers and Bruce offered an explanation
Dave E. asked Keith for a map Reference and Map scanning update; the map reference and scanning project is pretty much done with new projects on the horizon.
Dave E. asked for an HNF report; Keith noted the Kimball Tracts are ready to be inventoried. Steve Harris has found a couple of caves in the Roland area. Dave Black was asked to make the HNF project a priority as he enters report forms in Crawford County. He said that the HNF report forms will be updated into the database by the spring meeting. Todd Webb was granted an extension to December to complete a contract for the HNF/GIS project.
Dave E. asked if there was Old Business: Garre Connor had requested data for a scientific paper for the NSS Journal. Randy Jackson populated a spreadsheet with the data requested.
Dave E. asked for membership upgrades; Bill Schulze submitted request to be upgraded to Regular status, the 2 year requirement was waived by the Board because of his past membership. Glen made the motion to approve and Dave B. gave the second. Motion passed.
Dave E. asked for New Business; there was a lot of discussion about an electronic library of all Indiana newsletters being made available on the ICS website. Keith is working on scanning newsletters from the Grottos and working on indexing and organizing the project with Randy J.
The next meeting will be at 7:30PM on December 14th, 2009 at the home of Bill Baus. Bring something to eat and drink and it will be a Merry Ole Time.
