Purposes of the Florida Cave Survey:

• Establishing cave preserves
• Placing entrance gates where appropriate
• Opposing the sale of speleothems
• Supporting effective protective measures
• Cleaning and restoring over-used caves
• Cooperating with private cave owners by providing them knowledge about their cave and assisting them in protecting their cave and property from damage during cave visits
• Encouraging commercial cave owners to make use of their opportunity to aid the public in understanding caves and the importance of their conservation.
• Systematically collect and maintain information of all kinds on the caves and karst features of Florida

Welcome to the Florida Cave Survey!

If you are a Florida Landowner, and you are interested in learning more about sinkholes, wet or dry, or caves located on your property, please contact us at fcs@caves.org. Members of the FCS have mapped caves for both private and public entities, built elaborate gates, and cleaned and restored caves and significant karst features, all at no cost to the landowner. Our hope is to establish a positive relationship between cavers, landowners and the scientific community so that Florida's cave resources may be studied and conserved for the benefit of all involved.
