CALL
FOR PAPERS
15th International
Congress of Speleology
July 19-26, 2009
Kerrville, Texas USA
Submitting Papers for the 2009 International Congress:
- English is an official language of the ICS so you do not need to write your abstract in other languages.
- All
papers are submitted first as abstracts to a single address (Louise
Hose). Abstracts need to be a summary of the data, results, and
conclusions, not simply teasers.
- Deadline for abstracts is 1 December 2008.
- Abstracts go to referees for review and acceptance. Referees review abstracts and assign to sessions.
- Accepted abstracts may be accepted for oral or poster sessions.
- By 1 January 2009 you will be contacted and will be told if the paper is accepted for oral presentation or as a poster.
- By
1 February you must submit a 1-6 page paper including illustrations;
the paper is reviewed by discipline experts; returned for review if
necessary; and returned to the Science Committee by mid-April for
inclusion in the Congress proceedings.
- Oral
papers will be 15 minutes long followed by up to 5 minutes of
discussion; posters have size limitations and will have a time
scheduled for discussions. The Congress schedules will be strictly
enforced to help you attend as many papers as possible.
- You must be registered for the Congress by 16 April for your paper to be given at the Congress and published in the proceeding.
- Abstracts and papers will be published in the Proceedings before the Congress.
Check the 2nd Congress Circular on the ICS website (www.ics2009.us). Instructions for submitting abstracts are on page 7 of the 2nd Circular.
The
American Spelean History Association’s annual Business Meeting will be
held at a breakfast session sometime during the ICS. The date and
time have not been determined.
