Western Region Annual Meeting September 12-13, 2005 at Wishon Campground
Hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Grotto
The 2009 Western Regional Meeting is hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Grotto (for the first time since, ever?) on September 12 and 13 at Wishon Campground in the mountains of central California. We will have the usual business meeting, dinner to support the Western Cave Conservancy, and auction. This is an ideal location if you would like to visit the caves of the Kings River Geological Area. Is is also reasonable to do a day trip to Twin Lakes caves if you're up for a long day.
Other activities locally include fishing, birding, and climbing. There are a lot of climbing routes at nearby Courtwright Lake. If you have a hankering for rock climbing and speleo-politics, this is your Regional!
Parking at the campground is limited. Some may need to park outside and walk in. There is a dip in the road that will filter any long, low clearance vehicles. Bears are around. Use lockers. There are no hookups at the campground. If you want to use your RV there are facilities at Wishon Village. You'll need to make your own reservations on the Wishon Village website.
