SERA Cave Carnival
The SERA Cave Carnival
is
the annual caving
event of SERA. It is hosted by a grotto or cave survey
on a rotating
basis.
The event is usually held over a weekend in May or
June. Usually there
are between 400 and 700 attendees. There are many
activities including:
Led and self-guided caving trips, vendors, rope
climbing contests,
squeeze
box, a band one night, a munchie stand and fellowship.
The event provides
revenue for the
hosting grotto or cave survey for their activities.
It also provides
the
sole revenue for SERA. The carnival currently is
taxed at $1.50 per
person
which goes to SERA and the SKTF for its operations
and awards.
