What Kind of Weather to Expect
Temperatures in Utah's West Desert can range from 50 to 100 degrees in early September, and the weather is as predictable as the actions of an exhausted caver. The region is arid with little vegetation in the valleys, and cedar and junipers in the hills and mountains. Check the weather forcast for Provo, Utah a few days before you leave to get an idea of what to prepare for, but don't bet your life on it.
Cave Temperatures in the desert are between 50 and 60 degrees and are mostly dry, while alpine caves like Neffs and Red Baron are around 45 degrees and are damp and dripping, but not to the extent that you get soaked. |
