The MAR Breakdown is the journal of the Mid-Appalachian Region (MAR) of the National Speleological Society (NSS). The first issue of the Breakdown was published in early 1986 and acted as a replacement to the MAR flier. Starting in 2004, the Breakdown is now available in a hard copy and as a free on-line publication in PDF format. The Breakdown is published three times a year -prior to the Annual Business Meeting and prior to the Spring and Fall Field Meets.

Subscriptions:
A complimentary copy is sent to each grotto in the MAR.

For "Adult" registrants (17 and older) who attend a MAR Field Meet, $3.00 of your registration fee goes directly to the MAR to pay for a 1 year subscription (3 issues) of this newsletter (mailed hard copy) and to help other MAR projects.

Individuals may also subscribe by sending $3.00 to the MAR Treasurer; contact information can be found under the Officers page on this site.

* The number of issues an individual has remaining, immediately follows the subscribers name, in parentheses, on the mailing label.

Submissions:
Submissions (i.e. articles, notices, etc.) can be sent to the editor either by US Mail or via email. Any articles, announcements, or other materials of general interest to cavers in the Region are welcome. Electronic submissions via email or on a IBM-PC formatted disk are encouraged, preferably as a Microsoft Word document (.DOC), rich text file (.RTF), or in text format (.TXT). Please consult the editor for any questions as to whether another format of input is acceptable.
