OVERVIEW

During May the Society’s Chief Accounting Officer, Dave Irving, and Stephanie Searles closed the books for the last fiscal year, 2004–05.

The Society has engaged an auditor in Alabama to prepare the tax return and an audited financial report.

The budget for FY 2005–06 was approved by the Board of Governors

The Society obtained a general liability policy for the new fiscal year from a different carrier for significantly less than the budgeted amount. It also renewed the fire policy on the office and has applied for Director’s and Officer’s (D&O) coverage from a different carrier.

Certificates of additional insured were provided to the 2005 Convention Committee.

The 2004 Convention reported a loss of $3,680 which will be taken from the Convention Surplus Fund.

The Executive Committed allocated the 2005 Auction proceeds 75% Great X, 25% Education

Stephanie Searles has returned to working almost full time performing NSS accounting and fiscal functions. Dave Irving helps Stephanie reconcile LedgerMaster accounting at the end of each month and develops fiscal reports. Kevin Smith serves as a consultant for our audit and tax return preparation effort. I lead all of the Department’s efforts and participate in the above activities and more.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES

Our priorities between now and the next Board meeting will be to file the Society’s tax return, form 990, and assist in the preparation of an Audited financial statement.

Assist the Fund Raising committee in qualifying for the Combined Federal Campaign.(CFC)

In cooperation with the EVP, produce a mini annual report if it appears that the Society can qualify for the CFC.

Seek members to fill the vacant positions in the department.
