| 72-124 | Member Without Journal | 6-23-97, 6-17-64 |
The creation of Member-Without-Journal membership class is not
recommended. Membership is more than a magazine subscription. It
is a financial share in supporting the Society and its shared
goals which includes the encouragement of speleological research
and the publication of a Journal and the Journal is a service to
the members.

sending information to NSS members, provided that such use be
specifically approved by the President of the NSS.
| 72-239 | Recruitment | 8-16-74, 8-18-72 |
The NSS encourages the active recruitment of new members from
among the non-NSS-affiliated caving public by its Membership
Committee and Internal Organizations, subject to the following
constraints: (a) Membership recruitment practices shall at
all times be consistent with the Society's policies on cave
conservation and caving safety, and (b) Membership
recruitment practices which tend primarily to glorify and create
interest in caving as a sport shall be avoided.
| 72-352 | Membership Drive | 3-15-80, 8-10-79, 6-23-78 |
In order to improve our financial position, improve membership
services and publications, and increase support for research and
conservation, it is the goal of the NSS to increase its
membership as rapidly as possible by all means consistent with
the goals of the Society. The effort to increase membership shall
be directed primarily to persons that are already involved in
some activity relevant to speleology.
| 72-492 | Lapel Pin | 3-18-00, 3-16-96, 4-4-92 |
The National Speleological Society will prepare a special
lapel pin to be distributed free to members of the Society who
have been members for 25, 35, or 50 years.
| 72-583 | Electronic Membership Application | 11-2-96 |
