ACT SECTION 63 — FUND RAISING

 

63-423 Fund Raising Fund 6-29-84

A Fund Raising Fund is established for the purpose of paying expenses associated with general fund raising. A portion of income from general fund raising as determined by the Executive Committee shall be allocated to this fund.

63-429 Fund Raising Committee 10-5-02, 6-29-84

The Fund Raising Committee, a permanent committee in the President's Department, has responsibility for:

1. Encouraging contributions to the various Society Funds.

2. Encouraging participation by Society members in contributing categories of membership.

3. Coordinating fund raising efforts by committees, conservation task forces, and other authorized Society activities:

63-438 Valuation of Donations 3-23-85

Donors shall be responsible for any values assigned for tax contribution purposes to equipment, publications, real property, or other materials contributed to the NSS. The Society is not responsible for any such evaluation made by its staff or members.

63-450 Grant Proposals 10-5-02, 6-28-85

The Grant Committee, a permanent committee in the President's Department, is responsible for submitting grant proposals to appropriate private foundations and government agencies to further the interests and goals of the Society.

63-463 Fund Raising Organization 11-8-86

NSS funds are organized and grouped under the four following headings: General, Save-the-Caves, Exploration, and Research. These shall collectively be known as the Primary Funds. The main focus of the Fund Raising Committee will be to solicit contributions to the Primary Funds. In addition, the existence of the various other funds (Secondary Funds) will be publicized and contributions specifically designated for these funds will be advertised as being welcomed also.

63-465 Fund Raising for Specific Projects 11-8-86

Individuals, Committees, Internal Organizations, etc. may conduct fund raising efforts on behalf of dollar-specific, goal-oriented projects benefiting the Society without obtaining permission from the Fund Raising Committee. However, they are expected to report their planned and actual activities directly to the Fund Raising Chair to avoid possible duplication by the Fund Raising Committee. All solicitations on behalf of the NSS shall specify that donations shall be sent to the Society office. Primary responsibility for this type of fund raising will rest upon those initiating it. The chair of the Fund Raising Committee will advise and support upon request.

63-470 New Funds 4-4-87

Proposals for new funds shall state the following:

1.  The primary fund to which it belongs.

2.  The level and duration of active fund raising required by the Fund Raising Committee

3.  The initial amount that is requested from the NSS.

4.  The recipient fund for surplus or closing balances.

5.  Fund raising solicitations will state these points to prospective donors

63-489 Fund Raising Expenses 10-5-02, 11-10-90

Expenses associated with a specific fund-raising effort shall be paid from the resulting donations.
Expenses associated with developing a specific grant proposal shall be recovered from the resulting grant if allowed by the terms of the grant.

63-632 Credit Card Donations 7-12-99

The Society shall promote a program under which a person may authorize donations through periodic deductions from their credit card.

63-730 Grant Proposals 10-5-02

The President is authorized to seek grants for grant proposal concepts outlined in Appendix AT. The formal grant proposal and NSS implementation plan will be approved by the appropriate NSS Officer and distributed to the Board before it is submitted to potential granting organizations.
