Old Business
1. Revised Logo
The revised logo was circulated.
Ashburn moved, Mirza to accept the revised logo, with minor revisions, as the official logo of the NCRC.
Approved unanimously.
2. 2001 National Seminar - further explanation of the reasons for, and repercussions of the cancellation.
3. 2002 National Seminar - A preliminary budget and registration form have been prepared, a brochure was distributed, plans are progressing well (to be held in New York.)
4. 2003 National Seminar - A full report will be available at the Winter meeting (to be held in New Mexico.)
5. MRA Meeting - unable to attend this year.
6. Illustrations Contract has been completed for use of graphics and illustration for NCRC training and materials.
7. Training information on the Web
Information needs to be sent to John Punches, with complete data, as far in advance as possible.
8. NCRC Text Book status - no report at this time.
9. No action on AFRCC update to date. Regional Coordinators need to compile contact information for cave rescue groups and forward to Punches.
New Business:
1. Cave Rescue Scholarship Fund - motion on the agenda for Friday Board meeting.
Myers moves, Mirza seconds that the NCRC National account adds $500 to the seed fund for the Scholarship fund, if approved by the NSS Board.
Approved unanimously.
Evans moves, Mortimer seconds that Punches attend the Friday meeting of the NSS Board, and request that the motion be revised to broaden the scope to include any approved seminar.
Approved unanimously.
2. Board of Governors actions impacting NCRC.
Mirza moves Ashburn seconds that John Punches attend the Friday Board meeting to lobby that the NCRC retain the discretion to control spending from NCRC accounts.
3. Nominations and appointments of NCRC Personnel
Training Coordinator - Dave Ashburn is the only candidate.
Mirza moves, Myers seconds that David Ashburn be recommended for appointment to the three-year term (2001-2004) as Training Coordinator.
Approved Unanimously
Medical Coordinator - Sam Chewning and Steve Mossberg are candidates.
(Closed Session vote)
Sam Chewning is recommended for appointment to the three-year term (2001-2004) as Medical Coordinator.
Mirza moves, Ashburn seconds, that Punches formally write to Steve Mossberg to encourage him to work closely with Sam Chewning and the NCRC Board to become more involved as a potential future candidate.
Southeastern Region Coordinator - Jeff Parnell and Tim White are candidates.
Tim White is unanimously recommended for appointment to the three-year term (2001-2004) as Southeastern Region Coordinator.
Education Board Member-at-Large - Bryan Lavender and Mark Tiritilli are candidates
Bryan Lavender is unanimously elected to the two year term (summer 2001-summer 2003) as Education Board Member-at-Large.
Additional items:
Cindy Heazlit requested that NCRC seek CEU certification at the National level so that the courses offered at the local level can seek qualification.
Cindy also asked about NCRC/NSS insurance for practice sessions for trained NCRC rescuers. The Regional Coordinator and Training Coordinator need to be notified in advance, and the insurance fee needs to be collected and transmitted to the NSS office.
