Policy for Probationary Instructors

February 16, 2005

NCRC instructor policy prior to February 12, 2005, allowed for the designation of Probationary Instructors. These were persons who had completed the Instructor Qualification class with passing scores, but lacked (in the opinion of the Education Board) sufficient experience, teaching skills, or knowledge of NCRC curricula to be granted full Instructor Certification.

Probationary instructors must obtain written evaluations from lead instructors of two NCRC training events within two years of the initiation of their probation. Letters must be submitted to the NCRC Training Coordinator [via the NCRC Database Manager], who will refer the probationary instructor to the Education Board for review.

Probationary instructors who fail to obtain full Instructor Certification by the end of their probationary period will be dropped from the ranks of NCRC instructors.

Probationary instructors may not serve as lead instructors for NCRC training events.

[Note: under Policies enacted on February 12, 2005, no additional Probationary Instructors will be designated.]
