SUNDAY CAVING POSSIBILITIES (trip selection may depend on demand and weather conditions):
Alabaster Cave (1hr away)
El Malpais Lava Tubes (2hrs)
Pronoun Caves (1hr)

For those who can stay longer, arrangements for caving trips must be made on your own, for areas such as the Guadalupes, McKittrick Hill or Ft. Stanton. Permits are NOT available on short notice. These trips require more involved planning and are 200 to 300 miles from Albuquerque.

HIKING: Sandia or Manzano Mountain trails

Attractions in the immediate vicinity of the meeting site: New Mexico Museum of Natural History, Albuquerque Museum, Old Town, REI, Botanical Gardens and Bio Park, University of New Mexico Museums and much more.

Pueblo Cultural Center, Albuquerque Zoo, Petroglyph National Monument, University of New Mexico Museums and much more.

Attractions in the region: various gaming options at Indian reservations, Coronado State Monument, Santa Fe (55 miles north), El Malpais National Monument and National Conservation Area (big lava tubes, 100 miles west), Chaco Canyon National Historic Park (125 miles northwest).

Historic Landmark) on White Sands Missile Range. Location of the first nuclear test on July 16, 1945 (130 miles south-southeast. Site is mildly radioactive; see
