USA 2008
May 29 to Jun 6 - Cave gating of Laurel Creek Cave, at Carter Caves State Resort Park, in Carter County, Kentucky.  Volunteers are needed.  The park has made a cottage, bunkhouse, and campground available for those who help, plus there may be caving in the evenings.  Contact Jim Kennedy at jkennedy@batcon.org is you would like to help.

June 5-8 - Joint Spring VAR and SERA Cave Carnival - Sponsored by the Mountain Empire Grotto and the Appalachian Cave Conservancy. For more info, see the MEG website.

July 4-6 - Rocky Mountain Regional - Hosted by the Hole in the Wall Grotto in Lovell, WY. For more info, see the RMR website.

July 17-20 - Karst-O-Rama - The Greater Cincinnati Grotto invites you to attend the 2008 Karst-O-Rama at the Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve in Mount Vernon, KY. For additional info go to the Karst-O-Rama website

August 3-9 - Mammoth Cave Restoration Weeklong Camp - Signup is required and space is limited. For more information and to signup for camps log onto www.restoremammoth.com or contact camp director Roy Vanhoozer 

August 10 - NSS-CDS Mini-Workshop in Lake City, Florida (west of Jacksonville), held in conjunction with the NSS Convention. Check out our website (http://nsscdsworkshop.org/MiniWorkshop2008/) for more details. 

August 11-15 - NSS Convention in Lake City, Florida (west of Jacksonville), hosted by the NSS Cave Diving Section, the Florida Speleological Society, and members of the Tampa Bay Area, Flint River, and Central Florida Grottos. Check out SPF 2008, the convention website..

September 6 - Fall (OTR) meeting of the West Virginia Speleological Survey. The meeting starts at 6 pm in the OTR Registration Building, in Dailey, West Virginia. For more information, contact George Dasher at 304-965-1361 . This is an open meeting and anyone can attend.

September 19-21 - Fall VAR - Jointly hosted by the Blue Ridge and James River Grottos at the Moose Lodge field in Covington, VA. Watch the VAR website for details, or contact Susan Burr

May 20, 2008 - International Photo Contest, - The “Associazione Gruppi Speleologici Piemontesi Onlus” (AGSP) and the “Ente di Gest ione Parchi e Riserve Naturali Cuneesi” proclaim an Internat ional Photo Contest based on different subjects titled “Speleologia e Ambiente Carsico” (Speleology and Karst ic Environment ) .
