| Location: ravine just south of three sisters formation little rock canyon Trip Leader: Jeremy Westerman On Trip: Jeremy Westerman, Jeff Westerman, Nathan Westerman Several small leads were checked out in the vicinity of closed mine shaft by very visible white evaporite mine dump (Gypsum???, Borax????,talc???) Just up canyon from dump several small leads were apparent. found one phreatic cave in limestone filled with hardened debris that had turned to breccia. bottom of fill was collapsed out revealing small chamber 15 feet by 10 feet with much loose fill on floor.Cool air blowing out, possible dig but conditions might be dangerous due to loose breccia fill above and large breakdown potential. a chimney was located above and to the north that possibly connects. both ends of the chimney are open. on the north wall several deep pockets with apparent animal activity were checked. Large collapsed ancient cave tubes were visible along canyon walls. |
