Tony Grove Intro Trip
October 14-15 2005 - Robert Cranney
Location: Tony Grove Trip Leader: Robert Cranney On Trip: Robert Cranney, Tami Jensen, Ryan and Rosie McBride, and Ted ?? We decided to drive up to Tony Grove Friday night and camp. When we got to the area we met up with Cami Litchford and Peter Hartley who were going on a Main Drain trip the next day. In the morning we met in the parking lot at 9:00. With one group going to Main Drain and one group doing some fun easy caves, we all were in for a fun day. The group that I led (the fun easy stuff) started hiking up the mountain. We were going to start at Poligamy Cave and work our way north, but decided to start at the north end instead. We hiked to the first cave, Woodpecker Pit. We quickly rigged the drop and Ryan was the first one down. The entrance is about 100 feet. The first 20 feet is a small crack and slowly bells out into a fairly large room. Once on the floor, you can see a few leads up in the ceiling, but were not reachable without a ladder or some serious climbing. We all climbed back out of the cave and were off to our next adventure. We decided to go to Twin Sinks. Twin sinks is about 100 feet also. You go down a slight slope until you reach to snow in the sink. At this point you work your way down into the cave. Once in, there are a few directions you can travel. We decided to go down the passage to the "Big Room". When we got back we debated wether to do the slot passage or head back out. We headed out. Next stop was Thundershower. We decided to just drop the entrance of the cave due to lack of time. Once we got back out we headed back to the car. While heading back to the car we looked at Devils Den. When we got back to the parking lot we waited for about 20 mintues for the Main Drain trip to return. We headed back to logan for a nice relaxing Big Blue Burger and Diet Coke from A&W (Insert Plug Here). Good trip. Good times. And we got to see some fun stuff.
