Pink Lime Pit Register
Saturday, June 24th 2006 - Ralph Powers
Location: Pink Lime Pit
Trip Leader: Ralph E. Powers
On Trip: Ralph Powers, Max Barker

Since Max wanted to get some vertical training started and he had the vehicle to get there Pink Lime was the obvious choice.
He had been rappelling before and gotten a little SRT training done by Brandon but not really the meat of it all. We arrived at the pit and spent a good portion of it above ground going over the basics and the basics of rigging. Then down we went. With two ropes this made it easy.
A quick tour of the pit's features and I went over to check the register. It was soggy wet and barely able to write on. There was only one page in it and it got full by the time Max and I put our names on it.

One of the things I noticed is that one person will sign it... and say 4 people are in their group. Only trouble is where are the other three? It's important for us to put ourselves down individually each time we sign the register. It helps in several ways as I've pointed out before.
1. To account for the number of people that visit the cave/pit.
2. To identify WHO is visiting the pit/cave so that a potential trip leader can see who has enough experience to qualify safely for this or that trip. "Oh, so and so has been here several times and should be experienced enough to do this other cave I'm thinking about."
3. To help realize overall impact of the amount of visitation, by accounting for the numbers per visit and how often people visit the cave/pit.
4. A way of saying hello.

Here are the entry results:
1st to last entry date -- 6-11-05 to 6-24-06
Total number of people visited -- 37
Climbing systems: Frog 26
Other: 3 including 2 unknown (or not mentioned)

The accuracy on this is minimal at best. How many visitors didn't sign the register?
