We have a special guest attending SL Grotto this month.
The National Cave and Karst Research Institute (NCKRI) came into existence by a congressional mandate in the 1990's to serve as our nation's karst institution. Recently you may know NCKRI by it being the major sponsor of this year's ICS in Kerrville, Texas, but many may not know of its past activities and future goals. NCKRI Education Director, Dianne Gillespie is in town as a part of a nationwide research tour of cave and karst areas and has been asked to give a presentation for our grotto about NCKRI and the goals of that organization. It's a pleasure and a real opportunity for us to have her here in Salt Lake.
