Bat Gates are specialy designed to stop people but allow bats to pass. This allows the bats to remain undisturbed.

What the gates are there for – they are to protect either the public from truly hazardous caves, protect caves from the unthinking public (including cavers), or to protect some other resource, like bats, from detrimental usage (rocks, shotguns, disturbance, other vandalism).
