Since 1972 the Northern Indiana Grotto has provided fellowship, education and organization to cavers in Northern Indiana and surrounding Ohio and Michigan. The grotto meets on the second Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Gander Mountain, 6043 Lima Road in Fort Wayne (check the Calendar page for last minute changes!). The grotto has monthly caving trips, usually on the Saturday following the meeting. Trips are often to caves in Indiana, but we also have trips to Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. These trips are a good opportunity for new cavers to cave with experienced cavers, and learn proper safety and conservation techniques. The grotto is active in conservation, photography, rappelling, and mapping and is happy to teach newcomers these skills.
