About MIG
The Michigan Interlakes Grotto (MIG) is a chapter of the National Speleological Society (NSS), a nationwide association of cave explorers and scientists with over 12,000 members. Members of the MIG have a wide range of occupations, ages and special interests in cave exploration, including biology, climbing, diving, conservation, geology, photography, surveying, writing and even politics. Membership in the NSS is strongly encouraged but not required, except for officers.

Meetings
Six meetings are held yearly on the second Saturday of the following months: February, April, June, August, October and December at a member's home somewhere in Michigan. A short business meeting at 8:00 PM is usually followed by a program - talks, instruction in caving techniques or cave science, slides or video presentations are popular plus plenty of time to socialize.
Cave trips will be planned in the months that meetings are not being held.
If you are considering a MIG membership but are unsure if this is something you would like to be involved with, please feel free to join us at one of our monthly meetings. There you can get to know some of the grotto members, ask questions, and basically see what we are all about. If nothing else you can help eat the food and goodies that are provided so that the meeting host won't have so many leftovers.
Membership
Dues are "annual", payable in April and are pro-rated for members joining later
in the year. Dues for regular members are $15. There are other dues rates
for family members or subscribers. Dues should be sent to the Grotto Treasurer.
The Grotto welcomes all individuals no matter what their interest or activity level.
If you think you would enjoy an adventurous activity with some danger (mostly controllable),
