Conservation

MIG has had a long history of active efforts for cave conservation, in Michigan
and elsewhere. We support the NSS cave conservation policy among our members
and in our activities. In 1983 the MIG "spun off" the Michigan Karst Conservancy (MKC)
as a separate incorporated non-profit charitable (501(C)3) organization for
the purpose of preserving karst features in Michigan through direct purchase or lease
and management.  MIG members make up a majority of the MKC board,
and lead field trips to MKC karst features and caves.
