A scene for the season - some neighbors did this last Christmas Eve: Hundreds of recycled candle-laden milk cartons stretching over a mile. A pretty cool sight in the still solitude of the night before Christmas.

Well, I'm a bit late in posting the info for this month's grotto meeting. Sorry. I usually like to get something online a good week or so earlier than this, but I'm still trying to get back on track after spending 3 weeks of vacation time traveling across half the country and ultimately up to Alaska. At least I have one really fantastic trip report to discuss during the meeting, and the term "captive audience" does not accurately describe the situation this time...

Come to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and visit the Michigan Karst Conservancy's Fiborn Karst Preserve for the MIG's August Grotto Meeting.

The grotto meeting just happens to coincide with both the local Friends and Neighbors historical get-together, and the monthly MKC preserve maintenance weekend. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to explore the Hendrie River Water Cave, Michigan's largest mapped cave.



Expect lots of people and lots of fun.
