The Michigan Interlakes
Grotto (MIG) is a chapter of the National
Speleological Society (NSS),
a nationwide
association of cave explorers and scientists with over 12,000 members.
The MIG has about
50 members. There is a wide range of occupations, ages
and special interests
in cave exploration, including biology, climbing, diving,
conservation,
geology, photography, surveying, writing and even politics.
Membership in
the NSS is strongly encouraged but not
required, except for officers.
