Friday,
May 23rd-Registration opens at 9 a.m.
and remains open until Saturday at 7 p.m. Lone Star Preserve has plenty of
shaded campsites for you to set up your home away from home for the
weekend. We will have at least one cave
trip on Friday this year! Cave trips for
Saturday will be posted on Friday and trips for Sunday will be posted on
Saturday around 6 p.m. so you can plan your trips
underground. In addition to some new
caves we'll also have some favorites from past Speleofests. On vendors row you'll find the gear you have
been waiting to get! Back by popular
demand, from 6 p.m.
to 7 p.m. visit
our own Lone Star Salt Peter Cave
and mingle with old friends and make new ones while enjoying delicious “Awesome
Appetizers” served by the cave entrance. There will be music by the MuDHippieS to get you in the groove! Later, join us to
watch movies and music videos by the shelter house.
Saturday,
May 24th-Cave trips start at 8 a.m. For those of you not inclined to go caving, your registration packet will have information about nearby attractions and places of interest, such as Lincoln's Birthplace, the Corvette Museum, Fort Knox, My Old KY Home, and distillery tours at Heaven Hill, Jim Beam and Makers Mark. After your day out, there will be warm showers available so you can get cleaned up and will have a chance to tell all about your days adventures. Remember to stop by vendors row for any additional cave related items you may need. Dr. Warren Campbell, the Hall Professor of
Civil Engineering at Western Kentucky University
will be speaking about The Kentucky Initiative for Caves and Karst (KICK). Well round out the day by having some live music by Rondo Sterling for you to enjoy.
Sunday,
May 25th-Registration opens at 8 a.m.
and closes at 1 p.m. Cave trips start at 8 a.m. There are many places of cultural or
historic interest located nearby to visit. You may want to consider planning a
day trip. Maybe you'd like to see Mammoth Cave while you're so
close! There will also be on site
activities planned. Later, join us for
our banquet and listen to a talk from Jim Kennedy, the Cave Resources
Specialist at Bat Conservation International and then...what everyone waits for…DOOR
PRIZES!
Monday
morning, May 28th-Pack up your memories and head back to reality
above ground while reflecting upon the wonderful time had at Speleofest 2008 –
and looking forward to Speleofest 2009!
