Jim “Crash” Kennedy has been caving for 36 years and working with bats for 22 years.  He is currently the Cave Resources Specialist at Bat Conservation International, where he has been for 12 years.  He is a NSS Fellow and a Life Member.  His job takes him all over the place.

Jim will be speaking about cave management from a bat's perspective:  why bats use certain caves and not others, what happens when bats abandon caves, and how we can reduce human impacts and even bring bats back to caves they no longer use.  He will also talk about the research projects he is involved with, the cooperation of various state and federal agencies and NGOs like The Nature Conservancy and many cave conservancies, and the implications of our actions for the future.  There will be lots of photos from different areas, including Kentucky.
