General Information
Lone Star Preserve is a 67-acre caving preserve, which has been purchased and developed by the Louisville Grotto for the purpose of having Speleofest at a permanent central location in cave country. The preserve is located in Bonnieville, Kentucky-just north of Cave Cityon I-65. We have expanded our primitive camping areas throughout the shaded preserve. There's plenty of room for groups to have their own campsites in the coolness of green trees. Roads and other access make it possible to park at or near your camp. Fires are allowed off the ground.
The Lone Star Preserve Committee has committed themselves to volunteer their time to oversee the land management of our preserve. This will provide a consistent group of members with the same vision...
Our one year vision:
Our plan is to develop and initiate a plan of access and shelter while maintaining the standard set forth in our mission statement. The one year vision has been completed.
Our four year vision:
Our primary goal for the next four years is to initiate a community education program. Our secondary goal will be the introduction of our annual fund raiser to the preserve. The four year vision has been completed
Our ten year vision:
Our goal is for the Lone Star Preserve to be financially independent from the Louisville Grotto. We also envision that our preserve will be an intragal part of the Kentucky community through our educational program.
Lone Star Preserve is actively seeking donations for our karst protection projects and public outreach programs. ALL of the projects at Lone Star Preserve fall under the classification of 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations. This allows Lone Star Preserve to accept tax-deductible donations for our karst protection and public outreach programs, from individuals, corporations, large and small businesses, private foundations, personal and private charitable foundations, government and granting agencies, academic institutions, and other funding sources who choose to write-off their donation from their taxes, or who can only give money to "nonprofit" organizations. Donations to the Lone Star Preserve are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. 100 percent of all donations go to development! All work is done by volunteers!
