Regular Meeting
September, 2007

The September meeting of the James River Grotto was held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Warren House ground floor activity room at Lynchburg College.
Board Meeting:
The board meeting began at 6:30 PM. Board members present were Mike Frazier, Harry Sowers, Paul Stern, Neal Gunter, Matt Lair, Howard Kirkland and Chuck Waller. There was no business to discuss.
General Meeting:
The general meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Members present Melanie Stern, Larry Sowers and Jim Tennant.
Welcome Visitors: Past members, Gary Novak and Robbie Donovan attended Tuesday nights meeting. Also, Lynchburg College New Horizons staff members Laura Bianca, Tia Eastwood and Kelly Grey were at the meeting.
Trip Reports: Everyone shared there summer adventures with the group.
Previous Meeting Minutes Update: No previous meeting minutes update.
Finance Report: Current treasury balance is $2,861.21. The grotto received a check for $39.00 from the Bedford Area YMCA for the use of our lights and helmets on a recent caving trip led by Melanie Stern.
Committee Reports:
Conservation & Education: Paul Stern, the C & E Chairperson, shared information from an NSS publication reguarding radiation exposure while underground.
Safety & Techniques: No report
Membership: No report
Trip and Events: No report
Web Site: Webmaster Melanie Stern reports that our website is alive and well.
Gear Master: No report
Trip Coordinator / Events:
The Fall VAR will be October 12,13 and 14 in Daly, WV.
The Dixie Caverns Halloween Haunting is coming up soon. Mike Frazier will be email event details to everyone.
A trip to Bone-Norman Cave is scheduled for November 17.General Discussion:
Howard Kirkland shared some paddling events that will be coming up. Contact Howard for details.
Mike Frazier currently has the grotto helmets.Meeting Adjournment:

Program:
The program after tonight's meeting was a DVD on Carlsbad Caverns.
