Virginia Cave Law, as does cave protection laws of most other states, has severe penalties for violations, including heavy fines and imprisonment. Rewards are offered for information that leads to a conviction of a person for cave vandalism, violation of cave protection laws, harming animals in and about caves, and destroying or damaging cave gates or other barriers designed to protect caves.
