The Helderberg-Hudson Grotto supports the National Speleological Society's goals of cave conservation, exploration, and study in eastern New York and western New England.

This area has some of best caving in the Northeast including McFails Cave which has over 6.5 miles of mapped passage.

Grotto sponsored activities include recreational trips for all abilities, cave clean-ups, vertical training, and support for exploration, digging, mapping, and cave rescue.

Meetings are held indoors on the third Friday of the month between October and April and outdoors on the third Saturday of the month from May through September. Meeting locations are announced in the newsletter and on this website.

Grotto Membership is open to anyone for $8 per year. Members receive our monthly mailing, the Mudslinger, with information about current projects, upcoming trips, and other grotto sponsored events. NSS Membership within a year of joining the grotto is encouraged and urged.
