Many members of the grotto participated in a course taught by Dr. Fred Siewers at WKU  entitled "Geology of the Bahamas" at the Gerace Research Center on San Salvador Island over spring break.  Although the course was dedicated to the geology of the island, karst and caves were one of the  focuses of the trip, much time was spent exploring the variety of caves found on the island for more information on the trip, visit the trip's web page: Geology Of The Bahamas

Carter Cave:

2/21/04
A party of seven grotto members entered the main entrance of the cave around noon. The group traveled to the junction of the A and B survey after an hour and half of travel. The group proceeded to explore the junction area. A future trip will hopefully go to the end of the survey, from which grotto members will  help to continue the project. Members of the trip were also interest in a future through trip to or from the Trash Dome entrance.
