The 2005 Orientation to Cave Rescue class hosted by ESSO Grotto and Carter Caves SRP is fast approaching. The class will be held Feb. 4-5 in the Fields room at Carter Caves SRP. From Chris Chandler: We had a great response last year and I am anticipating the same for this years class. I want to encourage everyone that has never attended this class to make plans now to attend. Orientation to Cave Rescue is not a class that turns you into a cave rescuer. Rather, it prepares you to be a more competent and prepared caver.

Many have said, "I do not ever want to help during a rescue so I do not need to take this course." However, the rescue you might be asked to participate in may well be yours or your team members. All of us that would consider ourselves to be more than spelunkers should take this class at least once or twice. We often differentiate ourselves in many ways from those who merely carry a flashlight into a cave and this, my friends, is one of the ways. I would also like to invite back those who came to the class last year or previous years. Those who have attended before certainly have a lot to contribute to the class.
