Ralph Squire Ralph Squire is the founder of the Columbia Grotto, and past president of the Stanislaus Grotto in Modesto. He owns and operates the Marble Quarry RV Park next to the Columbia State Historic Park. As the name suggests, the Marble Quarry is situated in a pod of marble limestone. One of Ralph's ongoing projects is a dig to reopen the Great Columbia Caverns which were mysteriously sealed. Ralph was the chairman of the NSS New Melones Conservation Task Force which documented local caves before the implementation of the New Melones Dam and Reservoir. He is the author of the booklet Stanislaus Cave Country. One of Ralph's unusual talents is the ancient art of dowsing, used to find underground cavities and water. He is an active practicioner and a member of the American Society of Dowsers. |
