Mike White

I was born and raised in Calaveras County in the heart of cave country, I grew up at the end of Moaning Cave road.
My first wild cave trip was to Grapevine gulch and Bobcat in 1974 at the age of four when my father took me.

As a boy I would constantly hang out at Moaning cavern talking to the employees about the cave and dreaming of one day being able to experience the adventures everyone described for myself.

Finally in 1983 I met some employees who also shared my interest in exploring the local caves and we started to go out on a regular basis. From that time on I have been hooked and have been fortunate enough to cave in a couple of different states Ca., New Mexico, and Arizona.

I finally joined the NSS and the grotto in 2003 and am a past Chairperson. My current caving activities consist of taking my two kids Courtney and Michael II, to as many caves as possible, and never ending ridge walking trips looking  for new caves and new adventures.

I spend many weekends in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National parks caving and doing Volunteer work in Crystal Sequoia cave. I also go with a group of friends (The Trolls) to the guads. in New Mexico once a year for a week of caving adventures and we try and do a trip to Arizona every year also.
