| Rock Pile Our first grotto trip of 2005 was on Feb.26th, it started out as a beautiful Saturday morning. Bruce & Mike were the first to the Rock Pile parking area a little before 9:00 a.m., followed shortly by Rich & Tony, then Tom, and the others slowly arrived. By 10:30 12 cavers had arrived from locations as far away as 2 hours and representing 4 grottos; Columbia, Diablo, Mother Lode, & Stanislaus. Cavers present were: Bruce Brand, Mike White, Tom Lefrank, Tony Williams, Rich Steffensen and his daughter Bradie, Dale & Greg Hartwig, Daniel Hewitt, Marianne Russo, Tom Grundy, Paul Lukshin, Scott Redenbaugh, and James Wilson. There was discussion about register placements in the future, and of course, a lot of story telling. The day finally ended at 6:30 with a good time had by all, and a total of 7 caves visited: Secret, S.H.I.T, Haunted Chasm, Carlows, Music Hall, Escargot, and Holleywater. The highlight of the trip was probably watching Rich's daughter Bradie, who isn't quite 2 years old, explore Escargot with Rich, Marianne, Tom G. and myself. And very little assistance from dad. It's nice to see the future of caving first hand and to hear the giggles as she watched her dad try and exit the hole that she merely walked out of with no effort at all. <<Back to trip reports Pages and their contents © Copyright 2002- 2005 by Bruce Brand, except where otherwise noted. |
