Lint-Pickers Camp at Carlsbad Caverns
September 30th - October 5th, 2002
Yes, we went and picked and sprayed lint off the ground, rocks and formations
in Carlsbad Caverns. Why, you ask? The lint and hair from people can
foster the growth of bacteria that can create acids that etch the rock. It
also looks like dirt and isn't pretty. I'm pretty sure that at one
location the lint I picked up was more than 80 years old! Pretty exciting,
huh?
But, it wasn't all work, as you can see from the photos, we got plenty of hiking and cave
exploring opportunities during the week. Exhausting, but a very fun,
inexpensive and
memorable vacation.

The Lint-pickers: (back row) Pat (our awesome leader), Mike,
David, Cindy, Dan, May, Marc, Kathryn, little Veronica, Margo, Travis, Iana, (front
row) Clarence, Tem, and Greg.
