54th Annual Cave Capers Info -

This years Cave Capers will be held alongside with HCG's Hogfest. The combined events will be held at Hogfests traditional meeting place, Richard Newtons farm in Marengo, Indiana. The combined Hogfest / Cave Capers will be held May 4th through May 6th, 2007. The combined events are due to the 2007 NSS Convention being held in Indiana and Cave Capers will resume as a stand-alone event next year.

We will be featuring a guidebook with lots of great caves, led cave trips, an informal Friday night acoustic/ electric jam, bring your guitar, the traditional Saturday night Hogfest cookout, and bring some slides or a CD of photos to share, just sign up for a time slot on Saturday night.

We are currently accepting t-shirt designs for the Cave Capers t-shirt. All submitted designs will be voted on at the April Monthy Grotto Meeting. You can submit a design up until the the voting. Email any of the staff should you need assistance with a submission.

Cave Capers is a regional get-together of cavers scheduled on a weekend in June, July, or August that does not conflict with the annual NSS Convention. All cavers and their families are invited to attend. Activities include both led and self-guided cave trips during the morning and afternoon on Saturday, a banquet with a featured speaker on a caving-related topic, plus numerous door prizes on Saturday evening.

Capers is held in a different location in Southern Indiana each year with quality camping facilities and caves nearby. A guidebook to the caves of the area is provided and a yearly t-shirt is available for sale. Vendors of caving equipment and supplies are invited to attend and many show up every year.
