The Central Indiana Grotto is a diverse group of people with a common interest in caves and caving.

Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month at the World War Memorial building in downtown Indianapolis at Meridian and Michigan Streets. Our meetings usually consist of a business meeting, talk about caves, a brief break, and some form of cave related program. Our programs vary from guest speakers to slide programs on caves and caving.

Cave trips are regularly scheduled on the Sunday following each meeting. These trips are open to visitors who have the appropriate equipment. Please ask any member for details.

Training is provided both informally and through specific programs for members who want to learn special techniques such as cave surveying (mapping), orienteering, vertical caving, cave photography, or other caving skills.

Conservation is an important issue to us. Every cave is sensitive. Delicate formations and ecosystems (endangered species) can be destroyed forever through carelessness and or vandalism.

Fellowship is as important as caving. Many social events are held throughout the year.
