Blakes Cave 11/12/2008
Early
on November 1st 2008 I stopped to pick up Dave Miller, we were bound
for Linwood via Webster Springs. It was a quick journey only taking us
2 hours. After a couple hours of milling and waiting we were split into
our respective survey teams, Dave on Rick Royers, and I on Rick
Lamberts. My team quickly made our way through the first 200' feet of
the cave. Our LF survey began out of the small "room" just past the
"Ace of Spades" passage, we surveyed through the main active stream
passage setting more than enough stations in frigid water and tight
spots. We were able to make 3 tie-ins.... FST2, LL8 and FST1. Setting
17 stations of our own we managed to rack up ( according to survey
notes) 308.55 ft. After our last 2 tie ins we quickly exited the cave,
Others departed for dinner, I waited for dave. By the time Dave
was changed and ready to roll, It was approaching the hour of 9, We
quickly made our way back to Charleston stopping only at the Webster
Springs Go-Mart for some delicious gas station pizza and energy drinks.
I made it home around midnight, after a full satisfied day of caving.
