I think this was one of the best SERA events I have attended. I very much enjoyed the entire event. Not only did we have fun, attend a friends wedding on a bluff high above the event, see our old friends, enjoy good food, camp out in wonderful weather, meet new friends, and help clean up a local cave - we even got to lead a spontaneous trip back to that cave after the event for those heading home. That was just icing on the cake.

Thanks CAG! I had a great weekend! :-X

Here's my favorite photo! ;D

Central Alabama Grotto not only held a very different SERA Cave Carnival with the Carnival atmosphere and Midway but they also are very wise. ;)Gads!

You guys hosted a wonderful event. We had a great time.

Also the SKTF/CAG sponsored Clean-Up of Manitou Cave (AL) was well attended.

You and CAG did a great job putting on this year's SERA!  You deserve all the kudos!

Hope everyone had a great time and keep talking about it for quite a while... I'd like to see what they try to come up with to try to top it next year!

SERA Kudos
By: Benjamin von Cramon  (Marietta, Georgia)
benjyvc@bellsouth.net

I've been reading quite a few kudos for a job well done by CAG w/ SERA
both over TAGNET and DCGNET. Most remark what a good time they had,
and some point out what a good job CAG did in staging the event.
Regarding the former, two days later I'm still recuperating...
Regarding the latter, CAG kind of blew it out of the water. When have
you heard of a grotto producing a 9-color T-shirt? That's not done to
save dollars, you know. What a killer graphic on it, and what a killer
graphic on the guidebook, that's blue-ribbon work. Do folks realize
how much time and thought goes into planing and pulling off something
like the CAG's Believe It Or Not pavilion? The rides, the animals from
the zoo -- amazing, the whole carnival theme, all creative ways to
break the mold, diverting money that would have covered a band (that
traditionally hasn't worked out very well) to something different. I
came late to the 50' tent to catch but the last of the sword
swallowing act, but the crowd went wild. Showing my films every night,
okay, for me it's a huge honor, what a perfect venue for my work. I
can tell you, regarding me coordinating with CAGs many volunteers in
setting up and breaking down three times, these people were awesomely
helpful and easy.

CAG, you put your heart and soul into every stitch of effort
conceiving the event and executing it with a smile. We all
could learn.

I really enjoyed the different perspective in which CAG presented the event.  I think everyone did a great job in providing many opportunities for people to be entertained.

Just wanted to thank you folks for giving the American Cave Conservation Association an opportunity to tell the folks at SERA about our work.  Chris and I had a great time and made some good new caving friends from being at the event.  Thanks for putting on a great event!

I was also wondering where you got the carnival rides for the event?

Thanks.

You guys hosted a great Carnival!  Casey and I had a wonderful time. Thought you might be interested in reading other compliments and appreciation extended to CAG for hosting a fine SERA.

We had a good trip to Manitou Cave. The petroglyph could be prehistoric but I feel like there is a better chance it is old historic. Reasons: I can find nothing else prehistoric in the cave and it is surrounded by old historic graffiti.

The more important find is what looks like a signature from 1828 in the Cherokee Alphabet. I emailed a copy of this picture to Bo Taylor at the Museum of the Cherokee to see what he thinks. I will let you know what he says.
