Change of location and time for the July regular meeting:
The July 10, 2008 BMG meeting will be held at the party room at Jim's Razorback Pizza in southwest Fayetteville. The restaurant is located in the strip mall at the NW corner of I-540 and S. 6th ST (US 62 West). You may arrive as early as 6:30 PM to begin dining, and we will start the business meeting at 7:00 PM. A slide show program is anticipated so we will have a shortened business meeting with an abbreviated agenda.

March 14, 2008. Notice is given that a motion to amend a Bylaw was introduced by the
Executive Committee at the March 13, 2008 BMG meeting and will be voted on
at the next regular meeting, which is scheduled for April 10, 2008. The motion reads as follows:

" MOTION TO AMEND BYLAW 4 OF THE BMG BYLAWS (Introduced at BMG Mtg 3-13-08)

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that Bylaw 4, paragraphs A. and B. of the Bylaws of the Boston Mountain Grotto be amended to read as follows (Amended or added text shown in bold italics):

 

BYLAW 4. OFFICER ELECTIONS, SUCCESSION, AND REMOVAL

 

A. Officers shall be elected on a calendar year basis by a simple majority vote of those members

voting. Elections will be held at the last regular meeting of the year with duties being assumed

January 1. Nominations for new officers shall be opened during the first regular meeting of the

fourth quarter each year.

 

1. At the last regular meeting of the 3rd quarter each year, the members present

shall select an officer Nominating Committee consisting of two or more BMG members, excluding current officers. The Nominating Committee will assemble a list of willing and qualified candidates for the next year’s officer positions and present this list at the first regular meeting of

the fourth quarter. The Nominating Committee may nominate more than one candidate for each officer position.

 

2. Additional nominations will be accepted from the floor after the Nominating

Committee has presented its list, and during subsequent regular meetings, until the time of the

election vote. Nominated candidates may withdraw themselves from consideration if they so desire.

 

B. Voting for officer elections shall be by secret written ballot, to include proxy voting, unless

there is only one nominee for office. In such case the election may be by voice vote. Should no candidate for an office obtain a majority vote of those voting for such office, a runoff election between the two candidates with the most votes will be held immediately.

March 1, 2008: The Executive Committee has changed the dates of the regular BMG membership meetings so as to drop the December meeting. Otherwise, the regular meetings are at the same time and place for the other 11 months of the year: " Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (except December) at 7:30 PM at the Lake Fayetteville Enviromental Study Center." (This will not preclude us from having a social function and/or special meeting at that time and/or place or some other time and/or place in December; this will move the time for election of officers to the regular November meeting).

 

 November 19, 2007: The December 2007 BMG meeting will be combined with our annual Karstmas celebration at an old limestone mine up Zero Mountain (same place as last year) on Thursday December 13, 2007. The business meeting will start a little while after 7:30 (to allow those who went to the regular meeting site and saw the sign time to come west and find the mine). Party will have been going on before then. Directions have been sent out via the listserv, or contact bmg@caves.org if you need them.

June 14, 2007: A special election to fill the vacancy in the office of Vice-President (caused by the resignation of Cliff Colwell tendered June 14, 2007 effective July 12, 2007) will be held at the July 12, 2007 BMG regular membership meeting. Allen Irvan was nominated at the June 14, 2007 meeting. Other nominations will be received prior to the vote.

 April 18, 2007: The May 2007 meeting will be held on the usual day (May 10, 2007) at Jim's Razorback Pizza, 2620 W. Sixth Street, Fayetteville, AR (in the shopping center at the northwest corner of I-540 exit 62). We will be in the large meeting room. Reservations are for 7:00 p.m., business meeting starts at 7:30 so please get there as soon after 7:00 as practical so the food business won't interfere too much with the caving business.

November 15, 2006: The location for the December Grotto Meeting/Christmas Party/Election of officers has been changed for that meeting only to Zero Mountain in Johnson.

March 9, 2006

The Constitution and By-Laws Revision Committee will be introducing a motion to amend Article V of the BMG Constitution, regarding the methods for amending the Constitution and By-Laws. Click here for the text of the motion. It is expected that this motion will be brought to a vote at the May, 2006 BMG meeting.

May 11, 2006. The motion to amend Article V has passed. See above for link. The Committee has introduced a motion to amend the Constitution and Bylaws in their entirety. It will be voted on at the June meeting.
