1805 Description of Durham Cave
It certainly ranks among the natural curiosities of this country and deserves greater publicity than that which has been given it by historians. Should some naturalist have recourse to the place, survey the cave, and give an authentic, minute, ample and animated account of it to the world, he would do no more than his duty.
Durham Caves Future
Members of the Greater Allentown and Bucks County Grottos are currently working to preserve what remains of Durham Cave. It is our hope, that we will soon be able to present this natural treasure to the public, and use it to educate people about caves, conservation and the history Bucks County region.
Before 1849 there was a subterranean world of complete darkness, but today sunlight fills Durham Cave's third chamber.
