of symbolic emblems (patches, decals, pins, etc) related to caves or caving.
NEW REQUIREMENT FOR SYMBOLIC EMBLEM SALON – All symbolic emblem designs must be representative of a caving-related or karst-related organization (such as a grotto, section, or conservancy) or of a caving-related or karst-related event (such as a grotto event, a section gathering, a conference, or convention). Items that are determined by the Salon Chair to be “speleo-crafts” will not be accepted for judging in the Symbolic Emblem Salon, but they may be displayed in a nearby area. If in doubt, please contact the Salon Chair in advance to discuss your proposed entry.
HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES - All entries must be mailed to Kim Fleischmann (115 Stoneleigh Road, Bel Air, MD 21014) to arrive no later than Saturday, August 2, 2008, or delivered to Kim at the display area (check Convention program for location) by 6:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2008. No entries will be accepted on Monday. For each mail-in entry, print and complete the entry form or contact Kim to obtain an entry form via postal mail. Entry forms will be available for completion in the display area for items delivered at Convention. The form contains a release statement which should be signed by the artist or his/her designee. Entries will be considered to have been donated to the NSS Museum unless otherwise specified when submitted.
ENTRY FEES - The entry fee is $3.00 for the entrant's first entry and $1.00 for each additional entry. Please make checks payable to “Kim Fleischmann.” T-shirt Salon entry fees are separate from the Symbolic Emblem Salon entry fees.
JUDGING - Judging will occur on Monday morning of the Convention. Symbolic emblems may be displayed in the salon, but not judged at the entrant's option.
