NSS PROJECT STATUS

    NSS members who are involved in long-term, serious speleological projects may apply for official recognition as 'NSS Projects".  Project status may confer some legitimacy that is useful in obtaining the cooperation of Government agencies, corporate sponsors, or permits for cave work in foreign countries.

Current NSS Projects

Applications are made to the  NSS Research Advisory Committee (NSS-RAC), and should include:

• A detailed description of the goals of the proposed project (including results to date if appropriate)
•  
• Details of key personnel (names, NSS numbers, role in the project, relevant experience). A project leader must be designated.

•  A prospective timetable of activities
•  
•  A one-paragraph summary of the project suitable for publication on-line and in the annual NSS Members Manual.

 If NSS Project status is approved, the Project Leader is responsible for ensuring:

•         The Project follows all applicable NSS rules and policies.
•         An annual report of Project activities must be submitted to the NSS-RAC by May 1st every year.
•         Copies of all Project publications must be submitted to NSS-RAC, and will be forwarded to the NSS Library.
