NSS Home

You've been a NSS member for a while now but do you really know the aims and objectives upon which our Society was founded?  How do they compare with your own goals and interests in caving and speleology?  Are the directors that administer the business of and set policy for our Society working in the right direction to accomplish these objectives? 

Have a look at this excerpt from the Board of Governors Manual for a quick history of how the NSS came into existence.  As a voting member of our Society, for whom you exercise your vote may determine whether the goals and interests you hold impassioned are also being envisioned, defended, and strengthened in the Board process.

What can you do to ensure the future of our goals?

1.  Take time to read the ballot statements and vote in the Board of Governors election each and every year.

2.  Recommend qualified cavers as potential director candidates from your grottoes, regions, surveys, and sections.

3.  Consider serving the Society and your fellow members by running for a seat on the Board.
