Policy for Instructor Recertification

February 20, 2010

To recertify, an NCRC instructor must have

1.    attended an Instructor Update within the last 3 calendar years

2.    taught at at least one Level 1 or higher event during the previous 3 calendar years

3.    successfully completed an approved written test over NCRC curriculum and policies

The recertification period begins on January 1 of the year following the date when the test is completed and continues for 3 calendar years.

NCRC Instructors are held individually responsible for ensuring they meet recertification requirements.

Annual curriculum updates shall be offered in conjunction with national and regional Level 1 and higher seminars. Testing opportunities shall be made available in association with NCRC national seminars, and may be offered regionally at the request of Regional Coordinators (subject to availability of evaluators).

The Training Coordinator, in collaboration with the Education Board, will identify experienced instructors to serve as instructor-trainers and evaluators.

[Note that existing policy requires that all NCRC instructors maintain NSS membership.]

This policy is in accordance with actions of the NCRC Board of Regional Coordinators, February 12, 2005, and as revised on February 2, 2008.
